The holiday break provided a welcome opportunity to update FlixelPix with several photography projects from the autumn months. One highlight was Getty Music (Keith and Kristyn Getty) returning home to Northern Ireland in September for a series of concerts and workshops at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.

It was a real privilege to work once again with Getty Music. Having begun my journey with them as a guitarist, I now find myself far more at home behind the camera, capturing the remarkable talent of one of Northern Ireland’s finest musical collectives.
I photographed both the Saturday workshop and the final night celebration at the Waterfront Hall using two Fujifilm X-Pro2 cameras. Alternating between the Fujinon 16–55mm and 50–140mm lenses allowed me to document the day unobtrusively from a distance. Fujifilm’s exceptional dynamic range and colour rendition delivered cinematic results, with the straight-out-of-camera JPEGs requiring no post-processing whatsoever.

Facing a Task Unfinished is the latest album from acclaimed modern hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty. Championing congregational singing and global mission, the album follows the radical example of the 1931 hymn of the same name, reimagined to renew its urgent call to personal, communal, and worldwide witness.
The studio recording features the Gettys’ band, live congregational vocals, fresh global influences, and guest appearances from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Fernando Ortega, John Patitucci, Chris Tomlin, and artists from around the world.
I have known Keith for many years, and together with Kristyn he has helped build a distinguished catalogue of hymns that teach Christian doctrine while crossing musical genres. By blending traditional and classical composition with contemporary, globally accessible melodies, Keith and Kristyn Getty have become a true musical force, writing songs now sung by churches across the world.
