I recently picked up the Fujifilm X-E5 paired with the new Fujifilm 23mm f/2.8 lens, and it already feels like the beginning of a fresh chapter in my X-series journey. This time, I opted for the all-black model over Fujifilm’s classic silver, a small aesthetic shift, but one that gives the camera a sleek, modern edge.
As much as I love my Fujifilm X100VI, the Fujifilm X-E5 opens up a more versatile, multi-lens setup. The Fujifilm X-E5 steps into that role perfectly, offering the flexibility while still delivering that signature Fujifilm shooting experience and colours.
I’m currently running the Fujifilm X-E5 with a three-lens setup that covers just about everything I shoot. The 16mm f/2.8 is my go-to when I’m out in the Mourne Mountains, offering a wide, immersive perspective for landscapes. The 23mm f/2.8 handles everyday documentary photography. Finally, for portrait or music photography, the 35mm f/2 delivers beautiful character and subject separation.
With the key hardware covered, here are my five essential accessories for the Fujifilm X-E5.

Fujifilm X-E5 Strap
This one is a bit of a cheat, since it comes with the camera. Normally, I’d be recommending the Peak Design Slide strap, [Ad] which I’ve used for many years. But with the X-E5, I’ve decided to give the new Fujifilm rope strap a proper trial. The build quality is excellent, and it looks especially good paired with the all-black X-E5. It’s my first rope-style strap, so time will tell if it’s the right fit for me. I am, however, already dreading the process of attaching the quick-release tabs to the X-E5.
Urth Magnetic Filters
This is my first set of magnetically mounted filters, and I absolutely love them. If you’ve ever attempted winter long-exposure photography, you’ll know the struggle of trying to screw on filters with frozen fingers. The 4-in-1 pack includes magnetic ND8, ND1000, CPL, and UV (Plus+) filters, covering everything I need without the hassle. The pack comes with a screen on holder. which accommodates the 23mm lens cover. The filters magnetically fit together for each storage and access.

Fujifilm X-E5 Screen Protector
The X-E5 screen doesn’t fully articulate, so the LCD can’t be tucked away while travelling. For that reason, I’ve added a low-cost, high-quality screen protector, mainly for peace of mind. I went for the KinoKoo brand who list a Fujifilm X-E5 version of their protector.
The protectors come in a pack of three and are exceptionally easy to apply. If you look closely at the image below, you can just make out the outline of the screen protector.

Soft Shutter Release Button
I picked up the three-pack of buttons in gold, black, and red. I fully expected to stick with the black one permanently, but the red adds a surprising pop of contrast that I’ve come to really like. Each button comes with a small rubber O-ring that sits between the button and the camera, helping it stay securely in place. They’re incredibly easy to swap out, and getting three colour options is a fantastic deal.

Bellroy Lite Belt Bag
I tried fitting the Fujifilm X-E5 into the official Fujifilm X100V leather case. While the camera itself fit perfectly, the clip locks weren’t long enough to secure the case properly. Instead, I’ve opted to use the Bellroy lite belt bag. It’s a great fit, though the Fujifilm strap can be a bit unruly when packing the camera away. Also note that although it is called a ‘belt bag’ it can be worn more comfortably as a sling.
The bag also has an outer pocket that’s ideal for storing filters, memory cards, and batteries. Overall, it’s a solid choice for everyday protection while travelling. Get the Bellroy Lite Belt Bag on Amazon. [Ad].

Conclusion
The Fujifilm X-E5 has become my current go-to camera. I’m not sure anything will ever replace my deep-rooted loyalty to the Fujifilm X100 series, but this camera comes surprisingly close. The X-E5 brings together the sensor, styling, and user-friendly experience of the X100VI, then adds the creative freedom of interchangeable lenses.
The addition of the Urth filters for the 23mm f/2.8 opens up a range of new creative possibilities. And on a bonus note, I recently discovered that my ProMist 1/8 filter fits the 16mm lens perfectly, ideal for night-time photography. The Fujifilm X-E5 is a special little camera: exciting to use, endlessly versatile, and did I mention it looks fantastic?

I’ve only owned the X-E5 for less than a month, but it’s already by far my favourite Fuji camera I’ve ever owned. And it’s tied equal first with my Ricoh GRiii for all-time favourite camera.
I have however found I need a SmallRig thumb grip and L-plate with grip (which comes with a nice red shutter button too). As much as I love how the X-E5 looks without them, because I prefer holding cameras in my hand rather than having them on a strap round my neck, I just found I needed that extra bit of grip.
